After three years of work in the Missouri House, the elimination of Missouri’s income tax is closer than ever before. SJR 29 was debated briefly on the Senate floor on March 4th. Following is a summary of the remarks of bill sponsor Chuck Purgason. Senator Purgason and I have been working to address differences between SJR 29 and HJR 56 in the House. We will try to have both bills heard in the House Ways and Means Committee ASAP. The bill title is The Missouri Jobs and Prosperity Act. Following is an edited version of Senator Purgason’s remarks in introducing the SJR 29 on the Senate floor:
